City insiders have been aware of Tchenguiz’s growing stake for some time, but the property man’s apparent interest in SCi has only come to light in the past few days. It is not thought that Thornson Investments plans to make a bid for the firm.
SCi, currently the subject of an acquisition approach following its purchase of rival UK publisher Eidos last year, yesterday updated shareholders, stating: “The Board remains in discussions and will update as to any developments when appropriate.”
US publisher Midway has been repeatedly linked with the latest approach.
