Sega goes West once more

Petroglyph’s key staff are most famous for previous work on EA’s Command & Conquer, and are currently completing work on Star Wars: Empire at War for LucasArts. The terms of the deal specify that Petroglyph will work with Sega on a ‘modern military or sci-fi themed’ RTS franchise.

“Sega is moving aggressively toward a leadership position in the RTS category and the team at Petroglyph is behind some of the finest games in the genre,” said Sega of America president and COO Simon Jeffery. “We continue to rebuild Sega as a leading publisher by collaborating with only the very best developers.”

The new deal follows recent agreements with Silicon Knights, Secret Level, Monolith, Pseudo Interactive and the acquisition of Rome: Total War creator The Creative Assembly.
