Sega officially confirms London 2012 tie-in

Deep breath – London 2012: The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games has been officially announced by Sega.

The game will be released in June for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It will support both Microsoft’s Kinect camera and the PlayStation Move.

It will feature over 30 Olympic events including a pair of debutants – Keirin (cycling) and Synchronised Platform Diving.

Motion control support is not universal across all events and some disciplines – such as the PlayStation Move only 25m Rapid Fire Pistol – will be limited to one device.

We are proud to offer the Great British public the chance to actually experience the excitement and pride of taking part in London 2012,” senior VP of marketing at Sega Europe and Sega of America Gary Knight stated.

With all new Olympic events and returning favourite sports brought to life with the very latest video gaming technology, everyone will be able to participate in the Olympic Games from their own home.”

Sega last year released the equally catchily titled Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games for Wii. That game is due out on 3DS next month.
