Sell-offs aid Atari turnaround

While year-on-year sales were down, the drop was not as drastic as some of Atari’s publishing rivals have seen recently, falling from $23.9m last year to $19.5m.

The publisher also confirmed that more asset sales are likely in the future. “We previously announced plans to streamline our portfolio of titles and our operations,” said chairman, CEO and chief creative officer Bruno Bonnell,  “Atari continues to execute on its strategic objectives.”

“Further, we are starting to see the results from our previously announced cost savings initiatives as we have reduced general and administrative expenses by 32 per cent in our fiscal 2007 first quarter as compared to the prior year’s first quarter,” he added.
