ShopTo resolves Call of Duty: Ghosts dispute, but will Royal Mail strike scupper plans?

Call of Duty: Ghosts is now available from ShopTo.net after the retailer and Activision settled their differences regarding the title.

It was revealed in May that ShopTo would not be stocking the game after a disagreement with the publisher regarding the day on which it was able to post orders to customers.

It was claimed that Activision was demanding nothing be dispatched until the day before release on Monday November 4th, whereas ShopTo wanted permission to begin the process earlier to ensure launch day delivery.

ShopTo now says it has been given the green light to begin posting the game on Saturday November 2nd.

Whether Activision’s apparent change of stance is to do with efforts to ensure that Ghosts does not suffer the same year-on-year sales dip experienced by FIFA 14 is yet to be seen. Having a now major player like ShopTo on board will certainly be a help.

However, there’s a significant complicating factor here – many Royal Mail workers plan to strike on Monday November 4th in a dispute over the company’s privatisation.

Will anyone be in warehouses and sorting centres to get the game ready for Tuesday, let alone potentially get it to anyone on the Monday?

The same question will likely be bothering those who have pre-ordered from Amazon, too.

“The new agreement will allow for us to have Royal Mail pick up customer orders on the Saturday prior to release,” ShopTo said. “This will enable orders to enter the sorting system on Monday for delivery on Tuesday. This should help ensure that we meet our current high standards.

“We are currently awaiting Activision's decision on how delivery of the standard issue be resolved should the strike action take place. However, delivery of the Hardened edition will be dispatched via DPD.”
