ShopTo targets movie market

ShopTo will ramp up its DVD and Blu-ray range after reporting record market share last week.

The retailer offers a limited range of movies, but will grow the category in 2011.

“We aren't the type of company to rest on our laurels so you can expect further advancements in all areas,” ShopTo CEO Igor Cipolletta told MCV.

“We have ambitious plans for 2011 that include increasing market share and widening our customer base. We are also looking to further expand our DVD and Blu-ray offering which is very popular.”

For the year-to-date ShopTo.net’s share of the games market rose by 84 per cent. And in September the retailer recorded its single biggest weekly share of the market in the last 12 months, as well as launching a dedicated iPhone app.

Year-on-year, the retailer recorded a 183 per cent increase in its overall share of the market, attributing this success to strong sales of key September games F1 2010, Dead Rising 2 and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
Cipolletta added: “This is a fantastic achievement for ShopTo and it is purely down to our determination to succeed and prosper.

“We have a real drive at ShopTo with everything we do – whether it’s making sure we have great customer service or investing in a new state-of-the-art warehouse system.”

As well as upping its DVD and Blu-ray offering, over the next year ShopTo.net says it will continue to run online competitions and will launch new technical and social website advancements. It expects Q4 2010 to be its best Christmas sales period ever.
