Skyrim may not make it to the Nintendo Switch after all

Despite being featured in the reveal for Nintendo’s Switch, Skyrim may not be coming to the new console.

Yesterday Nintendo decided to give us the first look at its new Switch console with a three minute video that showed off all of its fancy new features. One of the sections showed the console running Skyrim, which many took as confirmationthat Bethesda’s classic RPG would be hitting the Switch sometime around launch.

However neither Bethesda nor Nintendo are confirming that Skyrim will hit the Switch at all.

"We’re happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video,” a Bethesda spokesperson told Games Industry. While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future."

Nintendo on the other hand have not specifically mentioned Skyrim, but did release a statement after the reveal that mentioned upcoming titles.

Today’s video incorporated short glimpses of representative gameplay to demonstrate the liberating nature of the Nintendo Switch home gaming system,” said Nintendo. Full game demonstrations, the list of launch window titles, as well as launch date, price, product configuration and related specifics, will be shown and announced prior to the March launch.”

While neither company wants to commit to saying it will happen, chances are that Skyrim will eventually hit the Switch. Since the reveal many people have been excited about the potential to play one of the best RPG’s of all time anywhere, so even if they weren’t working on it they will probably start now.
