Bethesda has sent word that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has received over 50 'perfect review scores' and shipped over 7 million units so far.
The massive sequel to 2007's Oblivion has enjoyed huge success, following on from some of the biggest hype around a new release this generation.
Bethesda says the title is now expected to generate over USD$450 million in revenue, and that over 50% of the initial allocation was sold through within the first 48 hours of the title being on sale.
Skyrim also took the record for highest number of concurrent players on Steam, with 280'000 players joining the fray on day one.
For comparison, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion shipped 1.7 million units in 2007 within the first 3 weeks, and was hailed as enjoying epic sales by press. Fallout 3 (the in-between title to be primarily driven by Bethesda's core studio) reached 4.7 million units in its first week alone.
