Sledgehammers CoD is FPS

It was described as the franchise’s extension into the action-adventure genre” by Activision back in March, but a new job listing for developer Sledgehammer suggests that its mystery Call of Duty title could be more conventional than first thought.

A job listing for Sledgehammer on Gamasutra, as spotted by Eurogamer, reads as follows:

Sledgehammer Games was founded with the singular purpose of making great action games. We have a brand new state of the art studio facility and an industry leading development team working on a world-class franchise – this is an opportunity of a lifetime.

We are actively recruiting top talent for our Call of Duty first-person shooter development team. If you have a desire to work on the most successful FPS franchise in the history of video games, apply online.”

Elsewhere in the Call of Duty universe, Treyarch is currently working on this November’s impressive looking Call of Duty: Black Ops, while series’ creator Infinity Ward is working on the next Modern Warfare and DLC for Modern Warfare 2.

In addition, Raven software is said to be working on the multiplayer side of Black Ops. Sledgehammer’s CoD project remains a mystery, with some predicting that it could be the long-awaited sci-fi instalment rumoured earlier this month.
