Many of the current-gen focused mags saw declines, however, with Official PlayStation 2 dropping by nearly 32,000 and PSW falling by over 9,000. Numbers were also reduced for Official Xbox Magazine, PC Gamer, PC Zone and GamesMaster.
There were also debuts for two new Future mags – Official Xbox 360 Magazine, which has become the UK’s best selling Xbox 360 magazine with a circulation of 42,680, and Official Nintendo Magazine.
Future attributed the falls to the shift of focus to next generation formats, with group publisher James Ashton stating: “Many of these ABC figures are encouraging, even in a transition year where gamers are waiting for an influx of new consoles and games.
“Add more than a million unique users who use our websites to these ABC figures and you’ll see why Future remains the only media owner that can offer true multi-channel web and print gaming solutions.”
