Sony adds mobile billing to UK PlayStation Store

UK PlayStation owners can now top up their PSN wallet via their mobile phone.

Sony has teamed up with mobile payments company Boku to make it easier for consumers to purchase PS3 download content.

Users simply add their mobile details as a payment option to their PlayStation account via the PS Store on PS3 or the Sony Entertainment Network website. They can they top-up their funds via SMS, with the charge either debited from their pre-paid mobile account or appearing on their next bill.

This service can also be used to renew subscriptions to Sony’s Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited services.

It’s a move that will make Sony’s download content even more accessible to younger and more tech-savvy consumers.

"We are always looking at new ways to give our customers more choice in terms of content, accessibility and payment methods, and are pleased to be able to offer the option of mobile operator billing, which are becoming more and more popular," said Sony Network Entertainment Europe VP Gordon Thornton.
