Sony denies Euro PS3 delay claims

The news portal is reporting that an ‘industry source’ has told it that the launch will likely be pushed back to September ’07 due to ongoing problems with component shortages.

However, Sony Europe president and CEO David Reeves has told MCV that: "We're still on schedule to launch PS3 in March throughout the PAL territories and all speculation otherwise is without foundation."

Sony Worldwide Studio boss Phil Harrison was recently quoted in Official PlayStation Magazine as saying that he wouldn’t like to make any definitive statements about the European PS3 launch in March, but this was quickly followed by an official statement from Sony claiming that a March arrival was still on track.

Some within the industry have already cast doubt on the March release, partially owing to the fact that Sony has never launched new hardware outside of Q4.

The format holder still insists that it is on target to sell six million PS3 consoles by March next year.
