Another major milestone for the Sony console, the situation is even more impressive considering the major stock shortages on hardware suffered by the games giant over Christmas and into the New Year. The six million mark was only reached in November.
“We’re not exactly in a full stock situation, but things have very much improved and the weekly run-rate we’re seeing at the moment is satisfying the demand and making up for the shortages we experienced over Christmas,” SCE UK boss Ray Maguire told MCV.
“Hardware sales on a weekly basis are higher than ever for this time of year, which means that we’re more or less on track to achieve our forecasts, despite the shortages over Christmas.”
We’re at a great price point, the stock situation has improved and we have a great software line-up,” added Maguire.
