It’s not a great start to 2013 for potential PS3 buyers in India. Sony has increased the price of the 500 GB PS3 console bundle from Rs 19,990 to Rs 22,990.
In addition to the price rise, the previous bundle that included Gran Turismo 5 Academy Edition and Uncharted 3 Game of the Year Edition has now been replaced by older titles Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Heavenly Sword and Infamous, which are all now part of the PS3 Essentials line.
The earlier bundled offered an additional value of around Rs 4,100, while the new three-game bundle is worth around Rs 3,600.
That, combined with the Rs 3,000 price increase for the whole bundle, means that the 500 GB console is now effectively around Rs 3,500 more expensive. Sony does not sell the 500 GB console as a standalone SKU in India.
Sony also offers two bundles with the 12 GB PS3 console. The Move bundle, which includes the PlayStation Move starter kit and Move Street Cricket, retails for Rs 18,990. The other bundle includes a copy of the first Motorstorm game for Rs 16,990.
