Sony takes jailbreak fight to US

With a decision expected on Sony’s Australian injunction against the sale of PSJailbreak today, it has emerged that the American arm of the platform holder has joined the battle.

Kotaku reports that SCEA has filed a lawsuit against Californian online retailer Zoomba LDC, alleging a number of copyright violations. It is claimed that Zoomba, who is named as an ‘official’ distributor on the mod device’s website, has been attempting to sell the PSJailbreak.

Sony is looking for both damages and an injunction preventing sale of the device.

However, all of this may be in vain following the arrival of the PSJailbreak code online. Though in its current guise it can’t be used to play pirated games, that development is now thought to be very, very close.
