Sony to launch PSVita at Games Media Awards

Sony’s PSVita will sponsor this year’s Games Media Awards in association with Grainger Gamess as Gold Partner.

The firm will use the event to promote its upcoming handheld to the UK’s 200+ elite games media at what has become the big night of the year for the UK’s specialist press. This will play an integral role in Sony’s launch plans for PSVita this autumn.

Sony joins a growing list of sponsors. Grainger Games has signed up as headline sponsor of the event, with others including EA, Codemasters, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Nintendo 3DS, Konami, NC Soft and Gamescom.

Activision has also recently signed as Gold Partner, Namco Bandai will be sponsoring the after show party, while Rising Star, aptly, will be supporting the Rising Star award category.

"PlayStation is delighted to be back on board with the Games Media Awards," said SCE’s head of UK PR David Wilson.

"The specialist press are our bread and butter and it’s only right that they get the recognition they deserve. The GMAs continue to increase in significance, and 2011 is shaping up to be no less significant for PlayStation with Resistance 3, Uncharted 3 and of course PlayStation Vita on the horizon."

The Games Media Awards in association with Grainger Gamesevening will be held on Wednesday October 26th at the super chic Vinopolis venue near Borough Market. Greg Davies, top stand-up and star of The Inbetweeners, will be the host for the evening.
