Soul Calibur V confirmed

Hit sword fighting brawler Soul Calibur will return to retail next year.

Soul Calibur V was unveiled at Namco Bandai’s Level Up event in Dubai, and is set for an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release.

"There are new characters and there’s some new features added to make the game even more exciting," said the game’s producer Hisaharu Tago.

"We hope you look forward to what we will have to show at E3."

2008’s Soul Calibur IV went on to sell nearly 2.5m units worldwide, and has a Metacritic score of 85.

Despite its success, the development team had originally not inteded to develop a follow-up, but a fan’s Facebook petition persuaded them otherwise and the game’s development team, including Tekken head Katsuhiro Harada, has been suggesting a sequel was in the works over Twitter.
