Gaming charity SpecialEffect needs your games.
The organisation is calling out to publishers and platform holders alike for their support, requesting that it be added to any promotional mail-out lists.
This will aid SpecialEffect’s ongoing effects to vet as many games as possible. The charity can then advise people with disabilities on the titles’ accessibility through its community website GameBase.
“Currently the charity has to spend precious charity funds on purchasing retail boxed copies of video games to carry out this service and our small charity coffers unfortunately don’t stretch to all the games released,” said SpecialEffect vice president Kirsty Payne.
“So in order to promote games to a sizeable part of the gaming community and to ensure that we give the best advice possible to disabled gamers, SpecialEffect would like to feature as many games as possible, including new releases and back catalogue games on GameBase.
“If you could add us to your promo mail out list for any new releases across all formats, that would be fantastic. We don’t need full retail versions, just the game in order to assess its accessibility and advise our GameBase members.”
Dr Mick Donegan, director of SpecialEffect added: “We’d really appreciate it if we could be added to your promo copy mailout lists for all PC and video game formats, no matter how big or small the title is. Also, any hardware that can be donated to SpecialEffect. We can adapt and pass on or loan to gamers with disabilities.
“Video games really do make a difference to people’s lives, and donating gaming software and hardware to SpecialEffect can very much help improve another person’s quality of life.”
