Splatterhouse gets Halloween release

Publisher Namco Bandai has told Gamespot that its gore-heavy retro remake Splatterhouse will be released this Halloween.

As Halloween falls on a Sunday this year, the chances are that it will be released in the UK on the Friday before – October 29th.

Based on the controversial 1988 original, the game is a prime candidate to spark a tabloid outrage thanks to its over-the-top gore and violence – the same quirks that made the first game a notable name in the industry.

The game was first in development at US studio BottleRocket, though after the company closed its doors in late 2009 Namco picked up a number of its members to complete work on the title.
