Starbreeze is making a virtual reality John Wick FPS

Lionsgate has announced a partnership with developer Starbreeze for a virtual reality first person shooter based on 2014 action movie John Wick.

Starbreeze is to act as publisher for the title, which is in development for ‘multiple’ VR platforms. A ‘teaser’ version will be ready for the launch of Valve’s HTC Vice, with a full launch planned for spring next year.

The film’s producer Basil Iwanyk and some of its production team will also collaborate on its development.

The studio has said in addition that it plans to introduce the John Wick IP into its Payday series, so as to facilitate cross promotion and integration of the two games”, apparently.

"Lionsgate is a leader in producing and delivering the kind of provocative, original and engaging storytelling that you need to launch an exhilarating and marketable game," Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint said.

"The John Wick characters and universe really resonated with our Payday fans last year when we first incorporated them into our game, so we’re thrilled to partner with the studio and the John Wick creative team to create a new standalone game enhanced by the state of the art in virtual reality."

A second John Wick film is due out in September 2016.
