Street Fighter V will support PS3 controllers

Capcom has made an announcement that could potentially save gamers hundreds of pounds.

The publisher has revealed that Street Fighter V on PS4 will offer legacy support for PS3 controllers. This means that any joysticks you have laying around will be fully compatible with the new title, although they may not support other more modern PS4 functions.

This is great news for gamers, who would otherwise be facing a potential three figure outlay for anyone one of the upcoming joysticks or fight pads for the game.

It’s bad news, however, for Mad Catz. The company this morning announced mass layoffs. It named both ongoing sales of Rock Band 4 and the upcoming release of SFV as reasons why it thinks its situation is going to improve in the near future.

On PC, of course, legacy hardware support is not an issue.

Street Fighter V will be released on February 16th. Capcom has also confirmed that the game’s first DLC character, Alex, will be released in March.
