Strictly Come Dancing game axed

Ubisoft has canned its licensed music game Strictly Come Dancing.

The title – based on the popular BBC TV show – was due to hit shelves on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii in time for Christmas last year.

However, a Strictly Come Dancing game will still arrive, but it will no longer be published by Ubisoft.

A BBC Worldwide spokesperson told MCV: BBC Worldwide decided last year not to proceed with a console game for Strictly Come Dancing until we could be sure we would match fan expectations for the brand.

"However we now have a major new Strictly game in development, the details of which we’ll announce later this month."

Ubisoft has seen success with a host of other dancing and singing games, including its 25m-selling Just Dance series. It has also produced a line of licensed music titles such as Michael Jackson: The Experience, ABBA: You Can Dance and The Black Eyed Peas Experience.
