Studios pull out of Halo movie

While big names like Peter Jackson and screenwriter Alex Garland back the project, it seems it’s a different story for major Hollywood studios Universal and Fox, according to US magazine Variety.

The rumours going around suggest that the budget could reach £200 million, considerably more than original forecasts of £135 million.

The news will come as a blow to Microsoft as it looks to widen the reach of its triple-A franchise. At the recent X06, Peter Jackson confirmed that he is working with Microsoft on a ‘new entertainment format’ for the next chapter in the Halo franchise, although whether this related to the film remains unclear.
