As has been suspected for some time, Atari has confirmed that its Xbox 360, PS3 and PC racer Test Drive Unlimited 2 has been delayed until the first quarter of 2011.
Speaking to GameSpot, Eden Games studio manager David Nadal said the extra time will allow for further polish, particularly to the ambitious online-enabled multiplayer elements.
The planned beta has also been delayed, though as a reward to those already signed up, all will receive a free, exclusive in-game item.
Atari recently announced that in future it was going to place a greater emphasis on digital-only titles for emerging social gaming platforms, meaning there’s a chance that Test Drive Unlimited 2 could be the firm’s last boxed console release.
