The Darkness II delayed to 2012

The Darkness II has been pushed back four months with the game slipping to February next year.

The sequel to 2K Games’ million-selling 2007 horror FPS was previously scheduled to arrive in October. It will now be released in North America on February 7th and elsewhere – including the UK – on February 10th.

A reason for the delay was not given.

The Darkness II will however be shown off at the San Diego Comic-Con tomorrow as part of the comic book franchise’s 15th anniversary celebrations. A panel featuring comic publisher Top Cow Productions’ CEO and The Darkness co-creator Marc Silvestri will be present, as will Top Cow COO Matt Hawkins and more.

The game once again puts players in the shoes of protagonist Jackie Estacado, who belongs to a New York crime family and has access to powers of the ‘Darkness’. Gamers can wield guns and attack enemies with demonic arms at the same time, as well as grabbing and throwing objects.

The Darkness II will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
