The end of the line for Game Boy?

Despite the amazing success of Game Boy Advance, in an interview with Reuters Nintendo president Saturo Iwata admitted: “I would have second thoughts about using our resources on what would be the next generation of GBA considering the strong support DS is now enjoying.

“The Japanese game market is now evolving around DS. We don’t need to do something that will pour cold water on the situation.”

The Game Boy was no-where to be found at Nintendo’s E3 booth. However, it’s unlikely that Nintendo will abandon Game Boy in the near future. With around 75 million Game Boy Advance consoles sold, the market for the handheld is still absolutely huge.
