Online retail firm The Hut Group has set up a new website that allows customers to buy and sell pre-owned video games.
TheHutRecycle.com lets users trade in their old games, CDs, DVDs, mobile phones, digital cameras, MP3 players and more in exchange for vouchers. These can be used to spend on TheHut.com.
Each product has a set value with the Nintendo DSi priced at £30 and CDs worth as little as 50p. The site values Apple iPads at around £400.
A statement read: "There is no other site available that offers such a wide range of products for trade in, making TheHut.com the only website you’ll ever need.
"Recycling credit can be used on anything on TheHut.com including gadgets, games, DVDs, fashion, footwear, books and toys. It’s the perfect website for the run up to Christmas. Clear out your unwanted goodies and save."
The Hut Group joins other retailers which have introduced games trade-in schemes including Amazon and Blockbuster.

So this is like CEX but you can't get cash, only credit for TheHutGroup, and the prices are lower. 50p for a game!? £35 for an iPhone 2G!?
However it is a nice looking site, clean, and user friendly. I imagine the process might be quite slow though, as sending to Jersey takes time and then they have to process it. CEX you can go to a store and get cash or generous credit and Amazon process your trade-ins very quickly. Will be interesting to see how TheHutGroup fair on this one - perhaps succeeding more with the uncommon trade-in items.
