The Top 100 UK Women In Video Games

The Top 100 UK Women In Video Games

Influential leaders, development inspirations and unsung heroes populate the first list of the top women working in the UK games industry.

Put together in association with Women in Games Jobs, and published today, the list recognises women from all areas of the games industry working within the UK.

Professionals from a cross-section of levels make up the list, with names on the list falling into one of five categories: management/directors, production execs and developers, media and PR, education and trade bodies, and retail or publishing sales and marketing.

The list, originally announced to name 50 leading female professionals from the UK games industry, was expanded to name 100 after an overwhelming number of suggestions from the trade. A judging panel including Gina Jackson, games consultant and CEO of Women in Games Jobs; Debbie Bestwick managing director of Team 17; Siobhan Reddy, studio director of Media Molecule; and MCV editor-in-chief Michael French helped hone down the list.

The Top 100 Women In Games list is published to day, Friday March 8th, as part of International Women's Day celebrations.

International Women's Day IWD has been running since the early 1900s and is an official holiday in many countries from Afghanistan to Zambia.

According to the latest statistics available from Creative Skillset the number of women in the games workforce is just six per cent, having dropped from 16 per cent in 2000.
