THQ will merge the online business units within two of its key divisions: core games, and kids, family and casual games.
The aim is to have all online games handled by two units that will help launch the publisher’s line-up globally.
THQ is currently working on several online games, including free-to-play, microtransaction based online PC games such as Company Of Heroes Online, which was announced earlier this week.
The company’s president and CEO Brian Farrell: “Online and digital represents our industry’s largest growth opportunity and it is imperative that we integrate digital and online game strategies into all of our key franchise plans.
“Now that we have momentum in our online pipeline, this is a natural evolution of our organisational structure, putting the leaders of our two product-focused business units in charge of development across all platforms. The company will now be organised in two clear business units and we are aggressively creating content to be delivered to gamers in all possible formats.”
