THQ nabs Witcher 2 Xbox 360 rights

The Xbox 360 version of the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will be published by THQ.

Unlike the PC original – which was released in May by Namco Bandai – THQ will be responsible for the Xbox 360 version. It will publish the game in western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.

The first Witcher RPG received a score of 81 on Metacritic while the sequel was awarded 88. Developer CD Projekt Red previously confirmed the latter would arrive on Xbox 360.

Adapting The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on Xbox 360 is a massive endeavour for us, and we’re committed to delivering one of the most complex and mature games ever to Xbox 360 players,” said CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski.

With the marketing strength and distribution network of THQ, we will be able to make the game an incredible success in Europe and around the world.”

THQ Partners VP Tim Walsh added: We are excited to work with CD Projekt RED to bring this unique RPG to Xbox 360 gamers.”

A release date for the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2 has not yet been revealed.
