THQ teams up with Disney-Pixar for new franchise

THQ has secured the licence to yet another movie title from US hit machine Disney-Pixar, in the shape of science fiction comedy WALL-E.

The video game adaptation of WALL-E will be released in conjunction with the movie this summer, on PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, Wii, DS, PC and Mac, as well as wireless devices.

The film tells the story of the last robot on Earth and is set in the future. It has been directed by Andrew Stanton, the man behind Finding Nemo.

Development for the WALL–E games is being led by THQ’s internal Heavy Iron Studios.

The long-running relationship between THQ and Disney-Pixar has produced shipments of more than 35 million game units worldwide.

THQ’s current agreement with Disney-Pixar, which was announced in 2004, includes rights to create games based on four newly created Disney-Pixar film properties.

Last year’s Ratatouille was the first property released by THQ under the agreement.
