Tiger to drive EA online

A somewhat vague story on The Wall Street Journal claims that EA will use its upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 to push its console digital distribution ambitions.

The piece states that EA believes its can achieve better revenues online than in can through retail, as the growth of online distribution is far outpacing the growth seen in bricks and mortar games retail.

This is unlikely, however. What is more plausible is that EA will look to simultaneously release a full game download of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on outlets such as Xbox Live and PSN alongside the traditional boxed launch.

The publisher (along with the likes of Ubisoft) already has the likes of Burnout Paradise available to download on Sony’s PlayStation Network.

MCV has contacted EA for clarification.

Thanks, BusinessInsider.
