Trade-in price comparison engine launches

A new website has launched that allows gamers to compare the trade-in prices offered by retailers for specific video games.

Playr2.com claims to be the first trade-in price comparison engine. As well as prices offered for titles, the site also details any requirements of a trade-in – game condition, timeframe and the way in which customers will be credited.

Listings include a number of retailers such as CEX, Argos and Swapgame.

As well as being able to quickly check the price of new games, it also allows members to swap games directly via the Playr2 Marketplace. A Playr2.com smartphone app is also available, which includes a barcode scanner.

“We’re thrilled to have launched the trade-in price comparison aspect to the Playr2 site, as now we really feel that we are a one-stop destination for anyone wanting to find the best deals on new games, or make the most out of unwanted ones,” the site’s founder Simon Kilby stated.

“Video games certainly aren’t cheap, and ensuring that you find the best deals when buying or selling is vital to anyone feeling the pinch this year.

“It’s not only important to clinch the cheapest deal on new games, but making sure that you make the most from unwanted games can really help close the gap on the prices you pay. Saving, and making, money from games can really help ease your finances; making the hobby much more affordable in the long run.”

Great idea. Getting the rest of the high street onboard would make it a 'must use' service for all trading in gamers. If they compare trade in deals and promo's, like that we've seen for BF3 and MW3 it will be good advertisement for retailers but also knowledge for gamers.
