IGN hosted a Black Beta event on Wednesday night in honour of Sony's upcoming relaunch of Twisted Metal.
The event was held for winners from IGN's readership at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney, which is no stranger to videogame events or to the Black Beta event series, raking in over 400 attendees to celebrate the upcoming vehicle-em-up from God of War creator David Jaffe.
Narayan Pattison, Publishing Director at IGN Australia, told MCV: "We were overwhelmed by the IGN community turnout last night at our Black Beta launch event for Twisted Metal. More than 400 gaming enthusiasts attended, making it our largest ever Black Beta. The response shows that Twisted Metal’s heritage as the longest running PlayStation franchise has established a passionate fanbase in Australia."
"I’d like to thank Sony, Hausmann and OMD for all their help in putting together such successful event."
The event was a very targeted and specific promotion of Twisted Metal, with a Playstation Vita up for grabs for the winner of a competition in one of Twisted Metal's new multiplayer modes hosted by IGN Producer Beau Ushay and Sony Computer Entertainment Australia Webmaster Nino Kalogeropolous.
It was a night soaked in Twisted Metal's harrowing charms, free tee shirts and posters and free drinks, with the game looking like a solid re-boot of a much-loved classic Playstation franchise.
Twisted Metal will be available for the Playstation 3 in March for AUD$79.95 or NZD$89.95.
