Twitch Prime members get both Banner Saga games for free

The push to drive up subscriber numbers to the Twitch Prime service continues with news of a new giveaway.

Members can until February 28th download tactical RPG The Banner Saga for free. Banner Saga 2, meanwhile, will be available to download between March 2nd-6th.

Furthermore, Twitch Prime will donate $1 toward the development of Stioc’s Banner Saga 3 for every person who downloads or plays either game through the Twitch launcher. Banner Saga 3 recently smashed through its Kickstarter target of $200k.

Those who take advantage of the offer will also get an unspecified bit of exclusive Banner Saga 3 content.

"Working with the Twitch Prime team has been amazing," GM of publisher Versus Evil Steve Escalante said. "They are clearly fans of the Banner Saga, which has helped us craft a great value for fans. Their commitment to the Twitch community and their commitment to support indie development with this offer is extremely generous."

Twitch Prime is part of the Amazon Prime program. Its members get exclusive discounts on pre-orders and new releases, access to a selection of free games and in-game loot and a number of Twitch extras including free channel subscriptions and ad-free viewing.

Retail giant Amazon agreed to buy Twitch for $970m in the summer of 2014. At the time, Twitch was widely believed to have been an acquisition target for Google.

Broadcasting and watching gameplay is a global phenomenon and Twitch has built a platform that brings together tens of millions of people who watch billions of minutes of games each month – from The International, to breaking the world record for Mario, to gaming conferences like E3. And, amazingly, Twitch is only three years old,” said Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said at the time.

Like Twitch, we obsess over customers and like to think differently, and we look forward to learning from them and helping them move even faster to build new services for the gaming community.”
