Ubisoft announces Smurfs Dance Party

The hunger for dance-based games shows no sign of abating with news that Ubisoft’s upcoming licensed Smurfs game will be another addition to the genre.

The Smurfs Dance Party, which is based on the licence for Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D movie, will be released on Wii in July.

"The Smurfs Dance Party mixes chart-topping tracks with classic tunes in over 20 fun dances created by professional choreographers and led by legendary characters from The Smurfs," the press release reads.

The likes of Smurfette and Papa Smurf will lead the proceedings with music spanning a range of genres including R&B, pop, punk and rock. It will support four players simultaneously.

A DS game has also been confirmed, though it won’t be a dance title – instead, it will opt for the mini-game format. It will also have dressing up and music modes, and will include interactive stories.

Ubisoft and Sony Pictures Animation have previously partnered on titles such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Open Season and Surf’s Up.
