Far Cry 4 will sell 6m units and The Crew 2m units in their first year on sale, Ubisoft has predicted.
That means the publisher expects its upcoming Himalayan shooter to match the performance of its predecessor Far Cry 3.
Ubisoft has also revealed that it sold more games on PS4 than any other platform in the quarter ending September, with Sony’s next-gen console accounting for 21 per cent of overall software sales.
Xbox One claimed just nine per cent, placing it behind PS3 (19%), PC (17%) and Xbox 360 (16%). Ubisoft sold more Wii software (2%) than it did Wii U (1%), 3DS (1%) or Vita (1%).
That PC was the company’s third most prolific platform ahead of Xbox 360 is also a surprise.
Overall the company reported revenues of €124.1m for the quarter, down 43 per cent year-on-year. For the first half of its financial year, however, revenues climbed from €293.3m last year to €484.2m, thanks in no small part to the ongoing success of Watch Dogs.
Digital revenues grew 90.4 per cent for H1.
"The very strong momentum we saw at the beginning of the fiscal year carried on into the second quarter and enabled us to once again exceed our performance expectations,” CEO Yves Guillemot said.
Ubisoft continued to capitalize on the popularity of new consoles, the successful launch of Watch Dogs, the quality of its back catalogue and the considerable growth of the digital segment. Consequently, our operating income and cash flows improved significantly during the period.”
