Ubisoft has announced the launch of Uplay PC, a digital distribution branch of the company’s already established network.
Uplay was established back in 2009, with its launch coinciding with the release of Assassin’s Creed 2. The network allows gamers to log-in with an account to unlock in-game extras from various titles.
Ubisoft’s service already boasts 35m registered users; recently expanding onto Facebook and extending to free-to-play titles as well.
Uplay PC has Ubisoft ditching individual game launchers for a single interface where users can access all their Uplay-enabled PC games. That interface is to offer the ability to directly purchase and download PC games.
Unlike when EA launched Origin, Ubisoft has yet to pull any of its titles off of any rival distributors digital shelves (such as Steam).
To celebrate the launch, Ubisoft is offering a handful of titles for $1 as well as other offerings discounted up to 75% off.
