Ubisoft pushes Ghost Recon with live fire entertainment

Ubisoft pushes Ghost Recon with live fire entertainment

Pushing the experiential preview angle recently, Ubisoft carted a busload of AU/NZ journos to a shooting range.

Once there, attendees were treated to hands on time with 22 calibre rifles and Ruger handgun and pitted against one another in a tournament with an iPad as first prize.

IGN's Luke Reilly took out first place, with things coming down to a shoot-off between him and OXM editor Darren Wells. (MCV's effort landed us a 7th and 11th place out of the roughly 30 shooters for the undoubtedly curious)

After the tournament, Ubisoft Paris Associate Producer Yann Suquet was on hand to give a demo of the upcoming Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, delving into the more reflexive and fast-paced ways in which the series' trademark cerebral stealth elements have been implemented.

Hands-on time with the game proved that the new and old mechanics work well in a more action-oriented environment, and that the game is well positioned to be a premier military shooter for 2012.
