Sam Fisher may have snuck back onto shelves today in Splinter Cell Blacklist, but there's one title Tom Clancy fans are still waiting for.

Rainbow Six: Patriots was first announced back in November 2011, but nobody has seen much from it since.

It was noticeably absent from Ubisoft's line-ups at both E3 and Gamescom, but the publisher is quick to assure fans that the game is "still cooking".

In fact, Ubisoft's Alain Corre wants the game to be perfect before the developers show it to eagerly-awaiting fans again.

"It's an important franchise for Ubisoft," he told IGN. "We want to make sure, on this one, like all other games we're working on, that we bring it when we feel it's perfect.

"We're iterating. We want people who play the next Rainbow Six to be astonished, to be very pleased with what they see. You've seen that the improvement in games over the last few years has been exponential. We have to reflect that improvement in quality."

By this stage, it's almost certainly a next-gen title so we'll just have to wait patiently for Ubisoft to decide whether or not it's ready to roll out again.
