UK CHARTS: Fallout 3 goes nuclear

Bethesda can celebrate a wonderful debut in the world of European self-publishing now that it has been confirmed its 360, PS3 and PC outing Fallout 3 has shot straight to the top of Gfk ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 this week.

It replaces Lionhead’s Fable II at number one, which in turn slips to fourth place behind EA’s FIFA 09, which climbs one position to second, and Wii Fit, which shoots from eighth to third.

Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 slips one spot to number five, just ahead of Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2 which drops from number two to sixth place.

There’s a new entry in seventh position in the shape of Activision-Blizzard’s movie license Quantum of Solace. Familiar faces complete the rest of top ten – LEGO Batman claims eighth, Mario Kart Wii holds firm in ninth whilst Saints Row 2 clings on at number ten.

Other new entries in the Top 40 this week include EA triplets Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, MySims and Monoploy at 15th, 25th and 33rd respectively, Midway’s More Touchmaster at number 28 and Disney’s High School Musical 3: Senior Year in 29th.
