UK CHARTS: Football Manager is No.1

The Premier League big guns may have had a torrid time at the weekend with both Arsenal and Chelsea dropping vital points, but Sega’s own Premier League title has hit the spot – Football Manager 2011 is the new UK No.1.

It’s Sega’s second No.1 of the year after Aliens vs Predator and the second PC-exclusive title to claim the crown in 2010 following the success of Blizzard’s StarCraft II.

Last week’s No.1, Microsoft’s Fable III, has to settle for third spot this week.

Activision’s new James Bond duo were unable to infiltrate the Top Ten, however, with Wii title GoldenEye 007 debuting in 13th and Xbox 306 and PS3 title 007: Blood Stone claiming 18th in its first week. The former sold around twice the number of units as the latter.

Koch media’s The X Factor title climbs from 37th to 22nd while Activision’s Blur re-enters the listings in 36th.

Here’s the UKIE GfK Chart-Track Top Ten in full (for the week ending October 6th):
1. Football Manager 2011 (Sega)
2. FIFA 11 (EA)
3. Fable III (Microsoft)
4. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)
5. Professor Layton and the Lost Future (Nintendo)
6. New Super Mario Bros Wii (Nintendo)
7. Fallout: New Vegas (Bethesda)
8. Medal of Honor (EA)
9. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (LucasArts)
10. The Sims 3 (EA)
