Female games industry professionals earn £1.50 less an hour than men.
Shocking results from MCV’s yearly salary survey show the pay gap between male and female professionals has widened in the UK – just three years after we reported that women earned more.
Our research showed that the average yearly UK games industry salary for women is £30,254, whereas for men it is £33,088.
The number is shameful for the UK trade, as our research shows that globally women working in games actually earn a bit more than men on average.
Taking into account global data, women earn £35,016 a year on average, while men earn £34,537.
We canvassed 975 games industry execs.
