UK Software Sales Monitor: Market falls to £9.03m

As if last year’s ten-year low wasn’t bad enough, this week the market value fell even further.

After a six per cent week-on-week decline, the figure now stands at a worrying £9.03m as of the week ending August 20th.

Similarly, unit sales were down – also by six per cent – despite retail promotions and extra interest in 3DS following the price cut. 494,531 games were sold during the week ending August 20th.

With little in the way of new releases, Zumba Fitness again took the chart top spot – its tenth consecutive week at No.1. Nintendo’s Xenoblade Chronicles debuted at No.7.

The summer slump should come to an end this week. Deus Ex: Human Revolution releases today (Friday, August 26th), and is the first of many high-profile titles out between now and Christmas.
