Trade body UKIE wants members of the games industry to become role models to young people and encourage them to start a career in games.
UKIE has teamed with STEMNET – the organisation that promotes science, tech, engineering and maths to students – to introduce a Video Games Ambassadors scheme. The move follows the recent Livingstone-Hope Skills review.
Game ambassadors will help young people aged between five and 19 study the right subjects in order to pursue a career in games development. For more information check out: www.ukie.org.uk/videogamesambassadors.
“Becoming a Video Games Ambassador is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to put something back in to the industry, to do so easily and with the minimum impact on their time,” said Eidos life president Ian Livingstone (pictured), who co-authored the Skills Review.
