US: GameStop to sell DLC

GameStop has announced its customers will soon be able to purchase DLC at the tills.

The retailer will trial be trialling the new program early next year, which will work in conjunction with Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, according to Reuters.

Announced at the BMO Capital Management Digital Entertainment conference, the scheme will enable to pay for digital content in stores, and the download will be available when they return home.

GameStop COO Paul Raines said: A large market for full game downloads is not imminent, [but] the add-on downloadable market will grow.”

Further details have not been given at this stage, but it likely to be available in the form of DLC-specific codes, similar to those sold through Amazon’s website.
