US: Wii to lead pack in May, says analyst

Michael Pacther, analyst at US firm Wedbush Morgan predicts a resounding victory for Wii at retail across the pond – the console is expected to have shifted almost double its nearest rival Xbox 360 and four times the number of PS3s, which are predicted to have shifted 225,000 and 100,000 respectively.

Overall video game sales are predicted to have risen 16 per cent, with potential sales of $333 million expected, a decent rise compared to 2006’s figure $286m. Those forecasts are based upon $228m sales on ‘new’ platforms such as PS3, Wii, 360, PSP and DS, with current generation sales expected to come in at $105m.

The report also reccomends that investors snap up EA GameStop, THQ and Ubisoft shares.
