Valve jumps on DirectX 10 bandwagon

Valve boss Doug Lombardi has confirmed that the latest instalment in the globally popular Half-Life franchise will support Microsoft’s new Windows Vista graphics standard, reports Game Informer.

DirectX 10 has been hailed by Microsoft as an important evolutionary stepping stone for the PC games market, but backwards compatibility issues have cast some doubt on the speed at which it will be embraced by gamers.

The support of the Half-Life franchise, however, will undoubtedly prove a big boost for the operating system in gaming circles.

Meanwhile, Lombardi also admitted that whilst it does not have any Wii games in development for the time being, Nintendo’s new machine has impressed the company and he wouldn’t rule out any possible future Wii projects.
