Tomb Raider sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider sees popular heroine Lara Croft struggling with the events depicted in the 2013 reboot.
That title saw Lara confronted with a life-threatening situation and coming to terms with the violence needed to escape with her life. Now in therapy, Ms Croft is starting to realise the direction her life is taking her.
Rhianna Pratchett returns as a key member of the writing team.
“With the power of the new generation, and our proprietary Foundation engine, our high octane action moments will be even more epic,” Square Enix’s western studios product development head Darrell Gallagher said.
“Multiple locations around the world will be filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth and over three times larger than we could achieve before.
“Our digital actors will rival CG quality, and after hearing the cry from our fans loud and clear, we will put the tombs back into Tomb Raider, all in our gritty Survival-Action style.”
Also revealed at E3 was a sequel to isometric outing Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. The new game is called Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.
