Video: Skyrim remaster is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC

The rumours and leaks are correct: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Publisher Bethesda confirmed that its popular RPG game would be getting a lick of paint and launching for the new machines. This SKU is called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. As well as a huge visual upgrade, the console SKUs support PC mods.

Furthermore, the game is launching on October 28th. If you own the game on Steam, this upgrade wiill be entirely free of charge.

This follows the news in November 2015 that Skyrim had already been ported to Xbox One as part of Fallout 4’s development.

Skyrim has sold over 20m units since its 2011 launch.

At its second E3 showcase, Bethesda also revealed that a new Quake was in development, VR support was coming to Fallout 4, the existence of a new Prey game and gameplay footage of Dishonored 2.

Below is some footage from Skyrim: Special Edition. Fast forward to the 3:15 mark for that game:
